Psychic Skill Items Revealed!

Psychic Skill Items Revealed! This is a photo I took the evening of the original blog post, and the items have remained in these exact places since then.

For the previous post, where I introduced the exercise, visit Fun with Psychic Skill!

The Brick

The item on the left is a brick from the Lexington High School/Middle School that I, along with several generations of my family, attended in Lexington, Missouri. I actually attended from the fourth to the eighth grade. The school, which was built in 1927, was demolished ten years ago. I was hoping someone would get some energy from this item.

A photo of the demolition of the old school. This view is of the main entrance on the opposite side of the view you see in the black and white photo above.

The Boy with the Fish

The item on the right is a ceramic boy with a fish that was given to me by an uncle when I was little. I’ve always had it somewhere in my room or in my home since then.

So how did you do?

Sam Crust mentioned an award in his description, which makes me wonder if he could have been seeing the shiny gold plate with inscription glued to the front of the brick. He also mentioned a toy (specifically, Huckleberry Hound), which is a standing character (two legs, arms, facial features, etc.) similar to my boy with the fish.

Kevin D’Arcy mentioned “ceramic”, which is a good call. I can also see how he may have gotten a “bobble head type figure” from my boy with the fish.

Paranormalogistically mentioned the characteristics of “square or rectangular” and “box”, which would connect with my brick. I can also see how she could get “bumpy texture like hobnail glass” (which I had to look up to know what it was) with the boy with the fish. She mentioned “keepsake” as well, which I would consider both of these items to be.

Both Phyllis and Brandie Sellers used the word “box” in their descriptions, connecting them to the brick.

Randall Keller listed several colors, which you could argue is represented somewhere in both items. He also used the term “rectangular”, connecting it to the brick, and “smooth textures”, connecting it to the boy with the fish.

Shall we try this again sometime?

I really had fun doing this and I hope you found it interesting… or at least entertaining. I’d love to try it again sometime, would you? And if anyone decides to try this on their own, let me know. I’d love to participate.

To those who practiced their psychic skill for this exercise, thanks so much!

Fun with Psychic Skill!

Inspired by Debbie at Spirits and The Paranormal, I’ve decided I want to have a fun little exercise to test everyone’s psychic skill! Here at Big Séance, these “call to action” posts sometimes bomb. DON’T LET THIS ONE BOMB! It’ll be super fun. Please reply and give it a try! I tried it on Debbie’s page and I was way off!

The Exercise

I’ve placed two objects right here on my desk. They’re sitting to my left as I type. They’re not usually in this location, but they’ve been in my possession for years. This evening I took a picture of these two items on the desk, and it is this picture that I’ll share when I reveal the items on Sunday. I’ll keep these items right here on the desk until we’re done with the exercise. The items don’t necessarily have anything in common with each other, I just thought it would be interesting to try this with two. Can you identify or describe even a few of the characteristics of one or both of the items?

Give it some thought, close your eyes, meditate, whatever it is that will tune you into my desk and these items.

Some things to think about before replying in the comments…

    1. What colors do you see?
    2. Are you picking up any energy from either of the items?
    3. What shapes or sizes do you see?
    4. What texture? What materials?
    5. Or just flat-out tell me what the two items are.

I’m excited to hear from you! Please be brave and give it a try! Ready GO!

The items from this exercise have been revealed! Visit Psychic Skill Items Revealed for more!

Remote Viewing… and an unstructured trip through my mind…

Not a lot of structure today. I’m just going to blab a bit. Care to listen? Currently I am reading We Don’t Die: A Skeptic’s Discovery of Life After Death by Sandra Champlain, one of the books from my Five Books for Summer 2013. I just finished a section that the author wrote about her journey into remote viewing, and bells went off in my head (not the paranormal kind) telling me that this was a great topic for a blog! According to the International Remote Viewing Association (IRVA) website, Remote Viewing is the “mental faculty that allows a perceiver (a ‘viewer’) to describe or give details about a target that is inaccessible to normal senses due to distance, time, or shielding”. This is a practice that can apparently be learned by anyone and does not require a psychic or medium because it doesn’t involve channeling or the help of a spirit entity of any kind. It is also different from the practice of astral travel or astral projection because a “viewer” apparently “remote views” in a fully aware and awakened, conscious state. Remote viewing doesn’t have to be what a group of people do in a secret room while trying to obtain secret information from other countries, but can also simply be trying to correctly identify what’s in your mailbox before opening it, or even describing the details of the next page in a magazine before flipping it.

Astral ProjectionIn reading both the author’s suggested exercises and the “how to” link from the IRVA site, I was reminded of the exercises in the books Astral Projection by John Magnus and definitely Know Yourself by Patricia Hayes. When I read Astral Projection a few years ago, I remember very clumsily attempting to astrally get out of bed (without the use of my body, of course) to identify objects on my night stand and attempting to read out of the book that was there. I remember even being disturbed by the fact that it was possible for anyone to astral travel into my home. What?! I wasn’t very far into my spiritual shift at that time and so this book seemed really heavy and far out. I do recall having some intense dreams during the time that I read this book, but I just wasn’t ready for astral travel yet. It’s on my list of books to reread at some point.

Know Yourself is out of print and very hard to find (check for used copies on Amazon or eBay), but it’s almost written as if it’s a text for a course on psychic development. Patricia Hayes collaborated and learned from Arthur Ford in the 1960s and 70s and has since founded Delphi University with her husband. Delphi offers courses in Healing, Metaphysics, Psychic Training, Transpersonal Psychology, and Spiritual and Intuitive Development. Boy would I LOVE to get my hands on any of her Delphi texts or materials.

In thinking about remote viewing, I also think back to exercises from the channeling course I took from psychic medium Marilyn Painter. Trying to correctly identify items in a paper bag. Holding a stone or crystal and feeling and describing the energy it has… psychometry stuff.

I can’t say that I’ve been incredibly successful with a lot of things like this that I’ve researched and tried over the last several years, but remote viewing is one that seems so interesting. Of course, in books they make these things sound SO SIMPLE! Even so, I think I’ll find a partner and experiment sometime.

I’ve strayed a bit from astral travel today… I followed my mind where it wanted to go. Want to get right back on topic? Check out the video below. It is a video about remote viewing that can be found on the IRVA website. But before I go… have you experienced or tried remote viewing?

Far-fetched…

Today during a class of mine a student asked me something about Bigfoot. First of all, it was a completely random moment in class. I promise I don’t teach paranormal studies. 🙂

Anyway, I explained that there were a lot of things I am open to believing in… aliens, ghosts, and other paranormal topics. Bigfoot? Not so much. Go ahead, bring up astral travel at dinner! I’ll tell you how I’ve tried it and have read  quite a bit about it. Reincarnation? Channeling? Automatic Writing? Remote Viewing? Sure! I’d love to learn more about it all and believe it’s all absolutely real. But when it comes to Bigfoot, that’s a little too crazy for me. I find it hard to keep a straight face while having Bigfoot conversations. Why is that?

There are a few other topics that make my ego uncomfortable when I hear or read about them. It’s that same ego that forces me to want to roll my eyes as I tell myself “It’s okay… just get past this chapter. You don’t have to be sucked into believing every paranormal topic you read about.” 🙂

What do you think about these?

  • Elves, Fairies & Leprechauns – Sylvia Browne says elves and leprechauns are real and reside in the “underworld”, which is supposedly not an evil place of darkness like it sounds.
  • Parallel Universes/Multiverses – I’m sorry… my brain can’t even begin to comprehend that… yet there are many, many books written on the subject.
  • Time Slips – What?!

So…. What paranormal topics are a bit too far-fetched for you?

Here’s a blog on the topic of parallel universes.
