Some of the Prophecies and predictions of Edgar Cayce and Sylvia Browne.

Janice Carlson – Janice has been a lovely friend and supporter of the podcast. You can hear my interview with her if you go to episode 10 from August 27, 2014. I wanted to start our special predictions episode with Janice today, because this was actually all her idea… and I thought it was brilliant! For more on Janice, visit janicecarlson.com.

Janice gives us her psychic predictions for 2015.

Psychic-Angela-Thomas-big-seance-podcastAngela Thomas – Next up is a psychic named Angela Thomas. She is a research psychic for the study of precognition with Dr. Vernon Neppe. She’s been a guest of George Noory’s Beyond Belief on Gaiam TV, and in the spring of 2015, she’ll be publishing her book “Three Dimensional Tarot: The Art of Gathering Information”. Psychic Carole J. Obley, The Big Séance PodcastCarole J. Obley – A future guest of an upcoming episode of The Big Séance Podcast, Carole has been the bridge between heaven and earth in over 7,000 group and individual readings. It’s no surprise that she is fast becoming a sought-after medium, author, workshop leader and speaker given the startling clarity, specificity and accuracy with which she sees, hears and senses people’s loved ones in spirit. Names, descriptions of loved ones’ personalities and uncanny, validating details as well as grief support and teachings about the Afterlife are typically delivered in her readings. Heartfelt and compassionate in her approach, Carole is also well-known for her practical, down-to-earth guidance and insight into life issues, such as relationships, career and finance. Carole shares the message that coming in 2015, we will have a deeper awareness of humanity and unity.

Karen A. Dahlman, Psychic Predictions and Prophesies for 2015, Big Séance PodcastKaren A. Dahlman – You remember her. She’s been on the show several times already. Her interview in episode 5 from July 23, 2014, remains very popular! For more on Karen, visit karenadahlman.com

Karen shares some predictions for the year 2015 that she received from one of her spirit friends known as “The Moon”, and she received these predictions from the Ouija board.

Our last two contributions stand out, because they are channeled messages that are recorded as they’re happening. Both Lee Allen Howard and Marilyn Painter have been guests on the podcast, and I’m glad to have them back.

Marilyn Painter, Psychic Predictions and Prophesies for 2015, Big Séance PodcastMarilyn Painter – She was my very first guest in episode 1. You can also hear her in episode 9 from August 20th, 2014. For more on Marilyn, visit ahtahsanctuary.com

Halloween Memories and Traditions

In this episode:

A Halloween Housewarming in 1911

A special return visit from Meth Hazel

Returning from episode 2 of the Big Séance Podcast, our next guest, Annie Wilder has a cool story from a Halloween night a few years ago. Now you have to remember that she lives in a haunted house, and when she mentions “the sisters” and “Leon”, those are spirits that are known to reside with her in the home.

Sara Wiseman joined us on October 2, 2014. I really enjoyed that conversation. She may have the sweetest and most calming voice ever, but you might want to briefly turn the lights on for this recent memory.

My friend Lee Allen Howard was with us for the September 11, 2014 episode. He is a medium and metaphysician, but he’s also an author, and he writes some horrifying things. And from his memories, it kind of makes you understand just where it all came from.

Next up is Karen A. Dahlman, who has been on the show twice, July 23, and October 16, of 2014. I absolutely love her story, and Karen was nice enough to send in a very special photo for all of us to enjoy.

Medium and psychic, Janice Carlson, joined us on August 27, 2014. She’s really fun to talk to, and she joins us again now to share this thought-provoking memory of a childhood Halloween. She also wanted to share an article she wrote about Halloween. **Janice’s drawing is coming soon!**

On September 18, 2014, Rob Gutro joined us to talk about Pets and the Afterlife. Here’s a memory from Rob.

If you’re a regular listener of the Big Séance Podcast, you know just how much respect I have for our final guest tonight, a man who has influenced me greatly! I was so very honored to have Jim Harold, of the Paranormal Podcast, join me back on Sept 25, 2014. I invited him to come back to share his thoughts on a favorite tradition on Halloween. If you’re a parent, you’ll relate to this one.

A special credit and “thank you” goes out to the incredibly talented Tim Prasil, for writing the really funny story for Meth Hazel’s appearance tonight. Thanks for playing along with us, and sharing your time and talent, Tim. You’ll actually be hearing from Tim, who is a writer, in a future episode of the podcast. You can learn more about him at timprasil.wordpress.com.

Don’t forget!! Are you a regular listener? Please e-mail (or call, or SpeakPipe) with where you’re listening from, and how you’re listening! I’d appreciate it! Patrick@BigSeance.com

Lily Dale: The Town That Talks to the Dead

In Lily Dale: The Town That Talks to the Dead, Christine Wicker packs her bags and takes a good honest look at the Spiritualist community of Lily Dale and the mediums that call the place home. She views every experience with an open and respectful, yet unapologetic and skeptical eye, which I appreciated… even if I felt a bit guilty for appreciating it. The reader gets to follow what ends up being a cast of fascinating characters, including guests, mediums, and other members of the community. She asks the questions many of us would probably want to ask, but wouldn’t, because we’d be afraid of being offensive. Christine covers the good, the bad, and the dysfunction of Lily Dale (even juicy gossip among mediums)! And even though she stubbornly refuses to have a spiritual experience, there’s evidence that she does, even if it’s just temporary.

In the last five years or so, I’ve spent much of my time reading, experimenting, and researching all things “spirit communication”. After first reading about Lily Dale in a book about Spiritualism and the famous Fox Sisters, and after conversations with medium Lee Allen Howard and hearing about his trips to the famous Spiritualist camp, it has been a destination I’ve been very interested in learning about and possibly visiting. Also, six months ago I watched and reviewed No One Dies in Lily Dale, the HBO documentary. As I mentioned in the comments of a recent post about this book, I think I’m going to have to watch the documentary again after reading Christine’s take on it all. I’ll make it to Lily Dale one of these days, but in the meantime I feel like the experience of reading this book was the next best thing.

Do you have any other recommendations on the topic of Lily Dale? Let me know in the comments below!

(Speaking of taking my word for it, you may be interested in LeVar Burton’s Reading Rainbow Kickstarter project.)

Death Perception’s Kennet Singleton: A Psychic Medium

I am honored to present this guest post by the amazing Lee Allen Howard!

Are the paranormal abilities of psychics and mediums gifts possessed by only a chosen few? I discuss this topic at Building the Bridge. But it’s a question I also consider in my latest supernatural crime novel, DEATH PERCEPTION.

The notion that certain people are born with these supernormal abilities persists in books, movies, and television shows. The popular TV series Medium, starring Patricia Arquette, portrayed protagonist Allison DuBois as someone whose gifts invade her life and overtake her. Dreams haunt her, and dead people show up when she least expects it, forcing her to deal with their demands.

The spiritual abilities of some people may be so powerful that they overrun waking consciousness. Such individuals are described as “natural mediums.” Natural mediums are rare in real life. The majority of individuals who work as psychics and mediums had only an inkling of a gift in the beginning, but studied and trained to develop it, like I did. Kennet Singleton, the young protagonist in DEATH PERCEPTION, is a bit of both.

Like some psychics, Kennet has suffered a troublesome childhood marred by paternal abuse, making him hypersensitive to changes in mood energy. He’s also encountered an old Pentecostal prophetess, who lays her hands on him, prophesies his future, and imparts a gift to him.

His psychic abilities crop up at age 19 when he toasts marshmallows over the ashes of someone he’s just cremated. Later, after a near-death experience, his mediumistic abilities flower, enabling him to see and hear the dead—and solve murders.

Kennet has come by his abilities both naturally through his past and supernaturally through the ministry of the prophetess. After an accidental consciousness-expanding event, his prescient hunches develop dramatically into something useful in avenging victimized spirits.

My personal study of Spiritualism and mediumship furnished the knowledge I needed to write about such abilities with authority. Having experienced psychic phenomena myself, I was able to add realism to Kennet’s otherwordly perceptions. (For more about this, see “Visitation from the Summerland” at Building the Bridge.)

DEATH PERCEPTION is the story of Kennet Singleton, crematory operator at a local funeral home. The crimes of the past pave the way for him to discover and accept the unique gifts he must use to help others—good inspiration for any kind of story. Especially if it includes ghosts!

DEATH PERCEPTION is available in trade paperback, Kindle (.mobi) and Nook (.epub) at http://leeallenhoward.com/death-perception/.

The Sixth Seed by Lee Allen Howard

One of my first blog posts, and incidentally one of my most popular, helped me to realize just how much I didn’t know about the genre of paranormal fiction and how big of a deal it is these days. In the public comments following my post, I was reprimanded for making light of the genre (specifically the paranormal romance book covers). As someone who usually only reads non-fiction titles on the topics of spirit communication and the paranormal in general, my ignorance of the paranormal fiction craze was obvious. They were valid comments.

After being away from it for several years, I recently took some time out for some fiction… yes, paranormal fiction, by reading The Sixth Seed by Lee Allen Howard.

Book Description from Amazon.com…

Today’s stories of alien abduction and experimentation include temporary embryonic implantation. THE SIXTH SEED, a dark paranormal fantasy fraught with suburban Pittsburgh horror, takes this scenario one radical step further when the first alien/human hybrid fertilization develops to full term in utero. Believing a vasectomy will prevent another unplanned pregnancy, 34-year-old Tom Furst–Melanie’s loving husband and the father of their five children–wants more than anything to dig them out of the fiscal hole they’re mired in and become financially secure. However, during the procedure, mysterious Dr. Prindar Krakhil secretly implants a worm-like alien seed in Tom’s vas deferens that not only ensures Melanie gets pregnant, but plants in her womb a child half alien. Their children are abducted. Melanie becomes gravely ill. When Tom loses his job, their home, and the sixth seed is born, will he accept the child for what it really is–and conquer the temptation to exchange it for the money Krakhil offers?

I truly loved this book! I found myself getting close to Tom Furst and his family, and I silently cheered them on as they fought through some financial and life challenges. Who can’t relate to that?! And the character that just might be my favorite isn’t even introduced until chapter 34. This character (that I’ll keep quiet about) warmed my heart and reminded me so much of one of my family members who passed on several years ago.

Thank you, Mr. Howard, for encouraging my mind to travel to an area of the paranormal that I rarely visit. Perhaps alien beings on this planet really are scary. But perhaps they would also surprise us. And perhaps there are people out there that know already. And you know that really weird guy you work with? Maybe… just maybe… the reason for his strangeness is that he is an alien/human hybrid.
