Join the Radio Sweep Experiment… What do you hear?

At the end of this post I want to encourage you to join the informal experiment and reply via a comment with your findings. But first…

I just finished Speaking to the Dead with Radios by Michael Hobert Edwards. In this young area of spirit communication, he is one of the leading pioneers. Even though I don’t have the wealth of experience at Radio Sweep that Michael has, I found myself agreeing with many of his thoughts and realizing that I could back those opinions up with experiences that I’ve had with a spirit box. In some areas I did have a few differing opinions… or maybe a better way of saying it is that I’d probably do some things differently. I was impressed by how thorough Mr. Edwards was at covering his entire radio sweep process, from the actual radio sweep devices, to how he records, how he analyzes, edits, and documents what he finds. The book really made me stop to take a look at my entire process of EVP recording, in general. And it may have just inspired me to try my hand at hacking a radio myself. I considered doing this a few years ago but chickened out. I want to try it, but I’ll definitely have to reach out for some techie help. I think Speaking to the Dead with Radios would be well worth the read for anyone involved in spirit communication, or in the paranormal, in general.

Let’s try something just for fun… an informal radio sweep experiment!

If you’ve never tried your hand at radio sweep or using a spirit box, here’s your chance. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be such a paranerd with all of your free time, give it a try! If you’re a seasoned researcher/investigator, I’d love to hear from you too!

Listen to the audio clip below. It is a 2 minute and 40 second portion of a Ouija Board/Spirit Box session I conducted back in December. This is the same session in which I claimed to hear the response of “Ouija… board” (read the blog post from that experience HERE) after asking whoever was present to tell me what I was touching. You’ll hear the “Ouija… board” response at the very end of the clip.

Regardless of whether or not you think the words or messages you hear are paranormal, what do you hear? Do you think what you’re hearing is the result of Pareidolia (matrixing)? Doesn’t matter at the moment. What do you hear? Even if you’ve decided a particular message or response is from a radio DJ, or a commercial for a little blue pill, or a portion of your favorite Barry Manilow hit, what do you hear? You’ll probably hear many short messages and responses. Will everyone hear the same messages? Leave your findings in a comment.

Before you begin, be aware that you will hear my voice as I ask a few questions. I look forward to hearing from you all!

What do you hear? Length: 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

A New EVP… Instructions About the Clock Radio?

Have you wondered why I haven’t posted many new EVP on here recently? Oh, that would be because I haven’t had much luck lately. True, I have slowed down a bit with my sessions at home, but I’ve also completed analysis of a few investigations as well as two cemetery recordings. Not much as far as EVP goes. At least nothing that I can confidently say is spirit communication. My excuse for slacking on my EVP sessions is due mainly to being backed up with footage and audio to analyze from investigations, and things like vacation, life happening, etc. Could it be true that being consistent is a big factor in spirit communication? I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t disappointed. When I ran into an EVP drought months ago during my two-week EVP experiment, I got inspiration from Sarah Estep. I wish she or one of the other pioneer greats would show up with some wisdom for me right about now. 🙂

A New EVP…

But the good news is this. Two nights ago I decided to record a short session while I relaxed on the bed in the bedroom while alone in the house. It was late at night and so it was pretty quiet. I usually conduct sessions at my desk in the loft. I also usually use two recorders. This time I did not. It is important to note that around six minutes into this session I twice asked for a knock in the room to validate that a presence was with me. I got a knock each time. It had been a while since I’d received such knocking communication and I wondered if it was the return of my rapper. With that being said, after the two single knocks I asked for further validation and got nothing.

Just before this possible EVP was captured (about eight minutes into the session), I was asking about the dream that I mentioned in an earlier post. The dream seemed to be spirit letting me know they were aware of my research. This dream also involved clear communication with a clock radio like the one I remember having in the house when I was younger. After the discussion in the comments from that post, I’ve been left wondering whether the clock radio was just symbolism or if I’m really supposed to try it. (By the way, my parents found it in the attic of their house. It is exactly like the one pictured in the dream post. I’ll be picking it up when I visit this weekend.) In the session, I had just asked “Is that something I’m supposed to try?” (I was referring to the clock radio.) As usual, I have no clue what may be communicated here. Your feedback is welcome.

I’m probably not supposed to tell you this because skeptics will take it and run. And… (sigh)… I know I’m sometimes too openly skeptic with my own work, therefore I probably end up missing true examples of spirit communication. However, I just can’t NOT be honest. Though it was very quiet in the room, and though I have gotten pretty good at calling out or “tagging” strange noises from the environment during sessions, I have to tell you that Meril (our 4 legged son… name pronounced like “Meryl” Streep, thank you very much) was relaxing in his kennel just a few feet away from the recorder on the night stand. I didn’t tag anything in the audio and I don’t recall hearing strange noises coming from him.

A New EVP… and a Big Update on an old one!

A New EVP…

I’ve been trying hard (but probably failing) to not get too excited about the small burst of very cool EVP I’ve been getting lately. I suppose hard work and patience really pays off. I’m hoping that’s the case, anyway. Check out this EVP recorded just two days ago. Once again, even though I don’t aim for noises to be the main form of communication, it ended up going in that direction, with some really fascinating noises that usually followed questions, and some of them even got Meril’s attention. I was having a light-hearted conversation about the noises when I decided to ask “Are you the same person who is often tapping, popping, and making noises?”. I believe I have captured a response with the message “Yes it is.”

“Yes it is.”

A Big Update on an Old EVP…

I forwarded my initial blog post on this EVP to author and new online friend/mentor, Randall Keller. He’s an absolute pro! He was gracious enough to listen to it and clean it up a bit. I want you to know that before Randy cleaned it up, I had no idea or guess as to what the message was. I just knew it was a voice. It took me about 5 times of listening for the words Randy heard in the newly manipulated file… but once I heard it, it hit me like a brick wall! The loud noise in the middle of the voice is the amplified sound of my mouse hitting the desk. Take a listen and tell me if you hear “Is it really death?” or perhaps “Is this really death?”

“Is this really death?”

What did you learn at school today?

Nerd.

Wasn’t it the most dreaded question growing up? You had just gotten off the bus and were SO PUMPED to go up to the attic to play office or library… or maybe you couldn’t wait to kick back on the couch with a Little Debbie (Star Crunches were my favorite) to watch the latest Donahue or Oprah episode (although that was usually only if 3-2-1 Contact was a repeat). No? Maybe that was just me (actually, that doesn’t even come close to the nerdiest things I did… I hope my family doesn’t read this one). Anyway, back to my point. The dreaded question… “What did you learn at school today?” always came when you least expected it… and no one was ever happy with the answer, were they?

About mid-way into my formal 2-week EVP experiment, Tom and Lisa Butler of the Association TransCommunication (ATransC, formerly AA-EVP), showed interest in my experiment and asked if I would submit a report on the experiment, my challenges, and “what I learned”. This is the association that was founded by Sarah Estep, whose book inspired me to conduct the experiment in the first place. I was (and still am) so very honored and excited just to be asked.  Documenting my inspiration, the process, the outcome… that was the fun part… the cool part! I did that weeks ago. What did I learn? That’s where I’ve been stuck. WHY AM I STUCK? It’s one of the coolest things I’ve done. It was a great experience. In fact, I haven’t stopped the experiment. I’m not recording at the same intense pace, but I think it’s something I’ll do on a somewhat regular basis for a long time. I KNOW I learned something. Sometimes I feel I’ve learned so much in the last several years that I don’t know what to do with it all.

After some thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe I’m struggling with this question because I was somewhat disappointed in the general results. I didn’t record a hard drive full of EVP like Randall Keller or Sarah Estep. However, I have since recorded several more EVP (or at least probable EVP) and that has gotten me excited again. Apparently, I have some spirit collaborators that have taken notice and are willing to help me out. So… is “patience” what I learned? “Patience” might get me one sentence. Did I gain an EVP addiction?

Maybe I just have a fear of the question. I know you’re just dying to find out, refreshing my blog hourly to see what knowledge I gained. 🙂 I’ll get crackin’ and keep you posted………………………………

Hmmm… Those of you who tuned in for much of my experiment, what did YOU learn? (Can you see me leaning over to check out your homework? I’m only interested because I want to know if I did it correctly. Yup… I was that kid too.)

🙂
