My Ouija Séance on All Hallows Eve 2014

Ouija Séance on All Hallows Eve, Big Séance

You may be familiar with my Annual Thanksgiving Ouija sessions. This year Karen A. Dahlman encouraged me to have one on Halloween, and so I did. I decided to call this one a Ouija Séance, because well… it sounds cooler.

My planchette partner was my mother. I was so very lucky to have them visiting us over the Halloween weekend. It was really nice, and I wish we could have extended it for several more days.

In this post, I will share with you a brief report along with some audio artifacts from the séance.

But first… Trick-or-Treaters…

It was such an unseasonably windy and cold night for trick-or-treating, but along with the neighbors, we did our usual “schtick” out on the front sidewalk. I was sure that we’d have a much bigger turnout this year with it being Friday and all, but I think the cold kept many of the kiddies in… or it at least kept them from being out too late, unless your costume involved a winter coat, ski mask, and gloves. But my hot apple cider was a bigger hit than ever. I always offer it to the “big people” who accompany most of the little costumed goblins. (I even had one family show up and say “We remember your hot apple cider from last year! We were hoping you’d be out here again!”) Thanks to the neighbors’ fire pit, we managed to stay warm and enjoy ourselves for most of the evening!

Oh yeah… and my Halloween window dressings were a big hit this year too! I think we’ll use them again next year!

I was very tired from an incredibly crazy week and busy night, and my mom was tired from being on the road, but once we were sure the trick-or-treaters had given up, and after we had the chance to watch the original 1978 version of Halloween, we began our séance shortly after midnight.

The Ouija Séance… just call me the Spirit Rapper Whisperer…

Our séance began after the rest of the house was asleep and bundled in their beds upstairs. All the candles on the Halloween Altar were lit, and we sat with the board, which was surrounded by many of the vintage Halloween cards and photos. I recorded our session with a digital audio recorder, and was also prepared with the spirit box that I got from Stephen Hill.

We opened the séance by clearly stating our intentions and having a moment of silence for prayer/meditation. We discovered fairly quickly that we’d have to cut the silence short to keep from falling asleep. (Seriously… I was nodding off.)

Within the first 5 minutes, we were hearing many knocks and pops. I acknowledged that the water line to the fridge (for the ice maker) was making a few noises, and it was clearly our first really cold and windy night of the year. But the heat was not on, and other than it being Halloween and having two extra guests in the house, nothing else was out of the ordinary in our immediate surroundings. I have never before noticed or heard so many loud knocks and pops in the lower level of our home in such a short time. I really want to be able to explain them, but the curious timing of the knocks (almost every one happened after a question, as if in response) combined with how loud they were, makes them really hard to ignore. I don’t know why I always seem to be the Spirit Rapping Whisperer, but I’ll let you be the judge on what exactly this is.

Then we turned on the Spirit Box

I don’t know that I can make a guess as to what any of these possible messages say. All I know is that I don’t typically flag too many interesting spirit box artifacts, especially those recorded in my own home. Most of the voices in the audio artifacts below seem to be the same voice that crosses over several to many frequencies or stations. That makes it significant in my book. I was sweeping the AM frequencies.

Halloween Altar SkeletonOne other interesting detail is that at 20 minutes and 27 seconds into the séance, the little skeleton man that was sitting up in the center of the buffet/Halloween Altar, fell over. I was sitting in a chair directly in front of him with my back facing him. My mom watched it fall. Paranormal? I’m not sure. It was probably a couple of inches away from the back of my chair, but I wasn’t doing much moving around.

When we stopped after 28 minutes, it was because I was falling asleep. Once again, I must point out that we experienced no movement or activity coming directly from the Ouija board. This has been the case for every Ouija session I’ve had in the last three years or so.

One last update. In case you didn’t know, it’s Autumn. No really. It’s here. How do I know? I just finished my first week of school with students. And so no matter how many people are splashing in the pool as I drive by, since I’m back at school, it’s Autumn! I don’t think I’ve ever been so worn out and tired from adjusting back into a normal schedule and a new year, which is why you’ve seen mostly podcast content and less “blog” this summer. But I’m super excited, because as The Paranormalist reminded us this weekend, the Halloween countdown has begun… and I’m excited to share some great content! Stay tuned!

My Favorite EVP and My Spirit Visitor, known as “My Rapper” – The Big Séance Podcast #6

In this special episode, I share my favorite EVP, as well as highlights and clips from what just may be communication from a spirit visitor that I call “My Rapper”.

By the way, toward the end of this show, while I’m discussing the rapping knocks and taps from my spirit rapper, a “knock” is picked up in the audio in a very annoying place. I left it in the audio, and you’ll understand what I mean if you catch it. Coincidence?

Let me know what you thought about this episode. I’m considering an occasional show like this, between interviews and guest appearances.

The Conjuring Sequel and the Enfield Poltergeist?

Evidence of supposed levitation from the Enfield Poltergeist/Haunting case.

One of the many photos of 11-year-old Janet Hodgson supposedly levitating.

There are rumors floating (no pun intended) around the internet that suggest the story line for the sequel of The Conjuring, now a major box office success, will involve the 1977 Enfield Poltergeist in England. This case involves two young sisters, mainly Janet Hodgson, who were really either great at psychokinesis (PK) or were tortured by an unseen spirit, perhaps the spirit of a man named Bill (who reportedly died in the same house years before), who apparently possessed and spoke through one of the girls. The video below includes the famous levitation photos from the case and audio of the creepy and traumatizing  supposed voice of Bill during investigations.

I’ve been reading rumors about a sequel for weeks now, and though nothing is official, apparently the film will again involve the characters of Ed and Lorraine Warren. So many thoughts circle in my head about the details of this news. First off, I don’t believe I knew about about the Warrens being involved with this case. It is well documented that two members of the well-respected Society for Psychical Research (SPR), Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair (see mentioned book below), were involved in investigations. Also, I get somewhat annoyed that we’re still using the term “poltergeist” for psychokinesis or telekinesis, which is the ability of one’s mind (often an adolescent girl as the agent) to influence solid matter, such as moving a chair across the room, rapping on the wall, etc. Many times the agent creating this phenomena has no knowledge that they’re the one causing the activity. Using the term “poltergeist” (a German word popularly translated as “noisy ghost”) makes people think “ghost” or “entity” when it might not be. If one of the sisters was truly possessed by the spirit of a man named Bill, then this may have simply been a haunting. Or was it both psychokinesis AND a haunting? Or… was it all cleverly faked?

Many people have considered the fact that the last scene of The Conjuring hints at the famous Amityville case being their next visit. I thought that was an interesting treat to leave for the fans at the end of the movie, but I certainly hope they aren’t literally making a sequel about Amityville. We’ve seen and heard enough of that over the years. If the Enfield case is the direction the next film is going, I’m SO there!!

Guy Lyon Playfair, mentioned above, wrote about the events in This House Is Haunted: The Amazing Inside Story of the Enfield Poltergeist. I have yet to read this, but it is on my “To Be Read Shelf”.

My Rapper: Missing you, old friend…

This last week I’ve jumped back into another round of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) experiments with my long lost cousin and EVP researcher, Randall Keller. I’m not far into reviewing my sessions so far, but like most of my EVP sessions in the last year, the actual live experience is pretty quiet and sometimes boring. In fact, my father participated in a session today and it turns out it was so boring that after only one minute of recording he was asleep and snoring in his chair. You see, it is in the review or analysis stage where the excitement usually comes in. The woman in the basement of the church tells you “it’s all over me”. In the audio from a private investigation of a home you discover a hopeless sounding voice asking “Can you help me?” only to later discover that you were wrong and the message captured was actually way more disturbing. (You can use your imagination, but you won’t see the actual message for the last one displayed here.)

Finding EVP is incredibly exciting, but there’s nothing quite like sitting down for a session and being aware that someone is with you and clearly willing to have a conversation. Readers who have been with me from the beginning will remember my three exciting sessions with an entity I named “my rapper”. It all started not long after I finished a book about Kate and Maggie Fox and the Rise of Spiritualism. I learned so much from the book and I was a bit obsessed with those events and the time period. The Fox sisters are widely credited for starting the Spiritualist movement and developing a system of spirit communication known as “rapping”. For several sessions I requested communication from the Fox sisters. Then it happened. After the excitement of the first visit in March of 2012, I was up almost all night long composing my hyper thoughts into a blog post. I was on a high for a few days after that. Did one of the Fox sisters get my invite? Was rapping how I was going to establish spirit communication from now on? My rapper returned for two sessions after that but hasn’t been heard from since.

Right now I’d like to throw an invite out there into the ether. I miss my rapper. Come back, old friend. Stay longer. Tell me a story. And please, TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!

If you missed the excitement the first time around, here are some highlights, including audio artifacts, below.

From the post EVP Update: My visit from a rapper!

Below are summarized segments from my notes and some audio files. Times are represented in minutes and seconds. For example, one minute and 30 seconds = 1:30.  “Tap” and “knock” are pretty much used interchangeably as it is hard to decide which is which right on the spot.(From the Tascam digital recorder)

Thirty seconds into the recording there is a knock (before I even said anything), at 1:24 a tap. I then ask “Is that you making that noise?” No response.

I then ask “Can you make another noise if that was you?” Several seconds later… “Like two taps or two knocks?” A few seconds later after getting no response I asked “Have you been present with me before in one of these sessions?” Two loud and clear taps at 2:02. The first one further away and the second one closer to the recorder.

At 2:35 I ask if they could give me two more knocks just for validation. I got two taps at 2:51.

I then decided that 1 knock was going to mean “yes” and two knocks was “no”. I asked “Have you been with me in one of these EVP sessions before in the last couple of weeks?” and 15 seconds later there was a faint unidentified noisein the background followed by a tap.

A few questions with no responses.

At 5:10 I ask “Do I know you?” A very light tap can be heard at 5:20. I mentioned “I THINK that was a tap” and then “Yes? Thank you.” Maybe there was another light tap before I answered but I cannot hear it in the audio.

At 5:50 there is another tap while I’m in the middle of a rather long question. I was asking for them to pass on a message, tell me who they are, etc. After the tap I finished my question and also asked where they were talking to me from… the other side? No response. My question ended at 6:00. At 6:16 there is a tap.

At 6:30 “You seem to be good at the knocking thing. Can you tell me… are you male?” For several seconds there is no response. “Maybe that’s ‘no’.”Immediately there is a tap at 6:47.

At 6:52 I asked “Are you female?” No response.

At 8:17 I’m playing music and ask “How many of you are with me?” At 8:34 you can hear a very loud knock somewhere in the house.

At 9:07 I ask “Can you make anymore noises? I think the noises are just how you want to communicate today.” No responses.

I then started up the pink noise portion of the session got no responses to several more questions.

At 11:42 I ask “Is there something I can help you with?” A few seconds later at 11:46 (pink noise still playing) you can hear what sounds like a very soft and low-pitched “no” (11:42 in PX-820… sounds a bit different but still there). A second later… “Or are you here to help me?” No response.

At 12:32 after pink noise is turned off I ask “Are you still there?” At 12:23 in the PX-820 there is two syllables of something heard very softly… right before “Are you still there?” At 12:41 there is a knock. I say “Okay!”

A few seconds later (12:53) I say “I’ve been asking for the presence of Sarah Estep or Cathy…” Before I could finish the question there was a very loud tap right in the room! I say “Ooh… Sarah, is that you?” No response.  At 13:98… “Sarah Estep?” No response. At 13:15… “Or Cathy? Is that you Cathy?” A few seconds later… “Cathy from The Big Circle?” No response.

At 13:31… “I’m kind of excited! Who is this?” You can hear a few very light pops or taps. At 13:48… “I feel like I can’t go on without knowing who you are.” No response. At 14:04… “Should I continue? Or should I end this session and listen?” No obvious responses. You can hear two very soft taps that are very close to the microphone… but I can’t be sure if it’s something I’m doing or not.

A few more questions with no responses.

At 16:04… “So could this knocking be from Sarah?” No response. At 16:18…“Cathy?” At 16:31 there is some kind of knock in the room.  At 16:40… “Was that a ‘yes’ for Cathy? Did I hear you correctly? Is this Cathy then?” A few seconds later…  “Knock if it’s Cathy”. Other than a dog barking outside, there are no responses.

At 17:05… “Are you someone other than Sarah or Cathy? Or ________? Could you knock if you’re someone else?” At 17:20 there are two faint knocks that I acknowledge hearing in the recording. I’m not sure if this was the answer of “no” or if this was an entity just knocking in response to my question, in general.

At 21:02 I began to do my usual thank you to anyone helping me, but I didn’t get very far. I began “Well I want to thank you for your energy…” and there was a pretty loud knock close by. I excitedly say “Oh!” and you can hear a dog barking loudly outside in the background. A few seconds later… “Thank you, there’s one.”

At 21:16… “I feel like maybe you’re playing games with me. Every time I move on I hear a knock” (more dog barking). A few seconds later… “…but as I was saying, thank you for your presence and your energy… and your assistance.”A few seconds later… “Any last messages… before we end?” No response. A few seconds later… “Thank you.” Then my elbow popped and I laughed and said “Now my bones are popping!”

End of recording.

Audio from the first visit…

Beginning… “Is there someone present with me today?”

Let’s have a conversation

Have you been with me before?

How many of you are with me?

Possible voice before “Are you still there?” and knock

“Sarah, is that you?”

“…should I end this session and listen?”

“…thank you for your energy”

“Is there something I can help you with?” (“No”)

From the post The Return of the Rapper

Below are segments of the transcript from my 4/6/12 EVP session. I’ve included links to some of the audio. 11:02 – a knock was heard after asking for a sound

11:38 – a knock was heard after “If you can do that again we can begin to communicate.”

11:57 – I asked the following questions and got no response. “Can you make two of those knocks? Two knocks in a row.”

12:26 – I asked “So maybe it’s not very easy to do two knocks in a row?” No response to this question, either.

12:39 – I asked “Can you do the one knock again? Just one knock by itself?” I received a response of two knocks.

16:06 – possibly 2 quick soft taps after the question “Give me two knocks if you have NOT attempted to speak to me.”

18:10 – 1 tap after “Have I known you ever in my life?”

20:56 – There is immediately 2 knocks (the loudest knocks from the session and both sounding different) after the question “What can you tell me about your family?” I had pink noise playing in the background.

23:39 – 1 knock after “If you can knock on something, maybe you can touch me” (one knock for “no”?)

From the post Identifying the Rapper and a Recent EVP

In an EVP session on May 11, 2012, I once again ended up having communication with who I can only refer to as my “rapper” who has been visiting frequently in sessions. There were several responses, but I couldn’t hold back my excitement when a little more than six minutes in I ask “Is there any way you can give me two pretty big knocks just before I leave… just to validate that you were here today? Two loud knocks.” A few seconds later you can hear two significant knocks or taps right in a row.

Two significant knocks…

Unedited original audio

Later in the same session I decide to go down the alphabet old school like Kate and Maggie Fox. Maybe this rapper would spell out a name to help identify him/her? I went slowly through the alphabet and allowed the rapper to knock after the first letter of their first name. I got a knock after “B”. I asked for a knock to verify that “B” was correct and unfortunately I didn’t get one. Now I made the attempt to identify the second letter of the first name. We went all the way through the alphabet again and I didn’t hear a significant knock. We then tried it again for the initial of the last name, but before we started I asked if they were still with me and asked for a knock. I didn’t receive a response. I started through the alphabet anyway and when I got to “B” again and I got several little taps or crackles in response. I asked if it was accurate that the initial of their last name was “B”… and if they were a “B.B.”… No response. So I decided to try again for a second initial.  No “B” this time around. I continued on and got a tap after calling “H”. No other responses or validation. I gave up for the day.

Does  my rapper have the initials of B.B.? B.H.? Am I only talking to creaking walls that mysteriously only creak when I ask them to?

EVP: “Hey! Great job, man.” Maybe? Maybe not.

So I had just started my analysis from an EVP/Ouija/Spirit Box/Clock Radio session from March 25th of this year, the day after our 13 inches of early spring snow. This session lasted approximately 30 minutes and began with setting positive and respectful intentions, and included invitations to members of The Big Circle, paranormal/EVP pioneers, and also a loved one who is crossed over. Like usual, I was using two different recorders, a Tascam with an external microphone and a Sony PX-820 (my favorite for EVP). Twenty-four seconds into the recording, immediately after announcing the time and date, from the Sony I picked up what seemed to be a soft voice. All I needed was a little amplification for me to hear what I interpreted as a childlike voice saying “Hey! Great job, man.” It kind of has a Bart Simpson flare (and as far as I know he’s still 10 years old, alive, and kickin’) . This message was not captured in the other recorder, nor were any other sounds that could have been perceived as a soft voice. I’ve only shared it with a few people, and after talking with them I don’t believe they heard what I heard… only the syllables and the pattern of the message. I realize that the syllables and the pattern of the message is the only thing that is clearly heard here, at least in my opinion. The fact that I’ve already contaminated your brain with what I hear makes this not very scientific, but I am curious to know what my readers hear, if anything.

“Hey! Great job, man.”

Just one of the many versions of the folk song written about Liza.

After hearing this, I cautiously allowed myself to accept the compliment and I’m sure I had a huge grin on my face! It made me excited to finish analysis of this session. Fifteen seconds later, and still before I had asked any questions, I captured what seemed to be another voice, this time a lower voice with a different quality. Once again, my brain pieced together a message together pretty quickly… it was “Liza Jane”. Ha! This time I laughed out loud! It was awfully nice for Liza to join me in this session. It’s unclear if this is THE Liza Jane… you know, the one we all adore, from somewhere way down south in Baltimore. If it was, then our buddy Randall Keller just might know something about that. I’ll keep you posted on her status.

“Liza Jane”

Unenhanced Audio

Enhanced Audio

So listen, I am in no way prepared to back these up with confidence that they are saying “Hey! Great job, man” or “Liza Jane”. They could easily be saying “Can I have one of those potato chips?” or… “Dog smells.” And honestly, even though for the first time in a long time I feel pretty good about these two, I can’t even confidently tell you they’re spirit voices. But isn’t it interesting how our brain and possible pareidolia (matrixing) works?

Recently I’ve read a few articles and research that discusses the interpretation of the actual message that is interpreted in EVP. It turns out that even among experienced researchers and investigators, rarely do they ever agree on the message of EVP. Some of these disputed EVP are even classified as “Class A”, meaning most, if not all listeners, should agree on its message. (I don’t usually classify my EVP.) It makes you wonder how we have confidence in this “field” at all, but it is definitely interesting. I plan on sharing some of this research with you soon, but I need to study it further when I get some time.

Anyway, these were the two artifacts that were captured without the aid of the spirit box or the clock radio. During the rest of the session I did get possible responses of names (including my own) and even a comforting “I’m here with you.” I’m still going through those, but my regular readers will know how cautious I am of radio sweep responses, anyway. As far as the Ouija board goes, to this date I’ve yet to have any action.

That’s all for now. Peace!

Putting Together a Rough Analysis of a Paranormal Investigation…

So honestly, I had no idea what to post or blabber on about today. In the last week I’ve been pushing hard trying to make some progress on the analysis of MOSS’s last paranormal investigation, so a lot of my focus has been in that world. So I kind of decided since my brain is there, I’ll blab about that and how I put together an analysis and report… that is, if anyone cares. 🙂

Norman and Cassie at work.

Norman and Cassie

This particular investigation was almost two months ago, so it has taken many weeks and hours of digging through, watching, listening, and comparing hours of footage and audio. We used 3 digital audio recorders, 3 camcorders, and 4 DVR cameras. I have 19 pages of data and analysis, which reads sort of like a transcript of the evening. As of right now I’ve finished my rough analysis of everything, with the exception of the 4 DVR videos. I always save those for last.

Bailey

Below is a screen shot of a portion of that 19-page rough analysis. Initially, I begin with all of my audio recorders. I not only listen for EVP, but I document events as I hear them, including EMF readings, temperature readings, weird sounds, personal experiences, etc. And for all of these events, I time stamp them to the nearest minute, if at all possible. I also just recently began highlighting and color coding the time stamp for individual devices, so that I can easily refer to any file from that moment. This is probably what takes most of the time. I go through video the same way, simply adding to the same document in chronological order. You’ll notice that in one of the events that took place at 2:03am, I included text in bold and italic, explaining that I have found an explanation for that event. This often happens when I get to any of the video files and I can see exactly what is going on and compare.

Me. (Sometimes you just have to find a seat on the dusty floor.)

Me. (Sometimes you just have to find a seat on the dusty floor.)

So this is where I am now. I haven’t saved any files or artifacts. I haven’t done a lot of enhancing audio. From here, I’ll save this analysis as a new file and dig deeper. Some things will disappear if they’ve been explained. I’ll summarize some of the redundant events, and figure out what events warrant becoming an “artifact” of paranormal or possible paranormal events. I number and code these artifacts and list them in this new document, which will end up being the final report for the client. I’ll add pre-investigation readings of each area (EMF, temperature, and barometric pressure), hour-by-hour weather information for that location, lunar and solar information from that date, and usually a short summary of my thoughts and findings.

Below is a small portion of the web version of a final report from a different investigation

So as you can see, this is why I have no life. Soon I hope to share some of the findings and details of the investigation. But for now, if you’re still reading, thanks for stopping by for show and tell. 🙂

Investigation Report of a Private Residence in St. Peters, Missouri…

This report has been completed for months but I’ve just now gotten to where I could get the online version done. I learned so much from this investigation. This was my first experience investigating with friend and medium Marilyn Painter. In fact, she invited me onto this case. It was definitely an interesting evening. Thanks, Marilyn!

When an Investigation Erupts with Excitement…

My father taking a break for some silliness during the investigation.

This evening I was going through some old investigation evidence when I came upon some clips that made me start thinking about those exciting moments in an investigation. Those moments when a boring night erupts with excitement! Those moments when a personal experience is burned in your memory. Some of these experiences with our team have included being touched, getting that charged feeling where every hair on your arms and neck stand up. Or when something in the air just changes… gets thicker. You know, sometimes the excitement doesn’t necessarily have to involve anything paranormal at all.

I thought I would share a few audio clips from one of our more memorable investigations. This will give you an idea of just how quickly things can start moving and shaking all at once. You have to be prepared, you have to be on your toes, and you have to avoid that “Dude. Run!” moment. This investigation remains undisclosed, but I can tell you that it is a large facility that was built in the 1940s. Most of the paranormal claims and reports from this location are believed to be connected with the documented suicide of a young man in the 1970s.

After a rather long setup, our investigation started at 10:07pm. Our evening was starting out pretty quiet with no excitement, other than some general nervousness about visiting the tucked away and rarely visited dark and uncomfortable location of the suicide. Well that experience (at least the first visit for the evening) came and went with nothing too eventful happening. Then after reorganizing teams and splitting up again, the building suddenly exploded with noises and activity at around 11:30pm.

Unfortunately, because of the undisclosed status, I cannot include video or photos from this experience. For this same reason, in the audio clips below I’ve inserted a tone to indicate where I had to edit or remove portions of the clip for whatever reason.

Here are segments from the final investigation report.

Right before we began this part of our investigation, it is like the building exploded with noises from the furnace and pipes. Each location of the building had its own unique sounds and bangs. The loudest of the bangs seemed to be coming from the basement.

[Norman, Cassie, Bailey, and a guest investigator were on their way to the basement for this portion of the investigation]

Making their way down the stairs to the ____ there are incredibly loud bangs coming from the boiler room area & pipes that are heard all over the building. Walking around the corner, Norman sees movement of the boiler room door. He also sees the padlock that was attached to the door swinging slightly. Norman slams the boiler room door and thinks that it is one of the sounds they are hearing. Even though it is a heavy door, it swings smoothly once you get it moving. No one saw it move on its own again. It is not a door that latches. It is a metal door that has to be padlocked shut. It is not clear if there was some kind of draft or suction coming from the boiler room with all of the other banging noises. There was no draft that could be felt, but there was an extreme temperature difference on both sides of the door. It was very hot and muggy in the boiler room. [It is the entrance to this boiler room where during another visit Cassie experienced being touched.]

Investigators later realize that some of the loudest bangs seem to be coming from up in the ceiling outside of the boiler room and ____.

[Only one of the bangs in the below clip is caused by investigators as they experiment with shutting the boiler room door.]

Audio Clip 1

At the same time this is going on, Amy (a guest investigator for the evening) and I are on the main floor talking to Bailey and handing off some equipment before she heads downstairs. We then head down the main floor hallway for the ____. You can hear the noises from the main level and see just how very on edge the noises made everyone. [This was all in complete darkness, by the way.]

Audio Clip 2

As you heard at the end of the above audio clip, Amy decided she couldn’t go on with this part of the investigation. Both of us were a little on edge. There was just so much going on all of a sudden… and we didn’t quite know exactly what it all was yet. We ended up grabbing an additional investigator and entered the location successfully.

Paranormal or not, I wish every investigation had some of these moments.

EVP: “See Dorothy”

It has been way too long since I’ve shared an EVP with everyone. Tonight I wanted to share one from a recent private investigation. I usually like to share more of the audio before and after the EVP because it helps the listener adjust to what they’re hearing, but to protect the privacy of the family I’ve had to isolate just the EVP itself.

First, let me set up the scene for you. This EVP was captured on a digital audio recorder that I had placed on the dining room table during pre-investigation and setup. Earlier in the evening during our tour of the home with the family, Marilyn (friend and medium) mentioned the possibility of an older female spirit residing in the basement. Different comments about this spirit were made off and on during setup. Right before the EVP was captured I was getting ready to take two cameras down to the basement. I was asking one of the family members about the availability of power outlets to plug them in. In my opinion the male-sounding EVP communicates the message “See Dorothy” very clearly. Is this voice referring to a spirit in the basement? As of now, no one knows of a “Dorothy” connection with the home.
